Volumetric Performance, Verified
A CMM that has not been checked since installation, or since a collision, is an unverified measurement source. Calibration against ISO/IEC 17025:2017 establishes whether length measurement error and probing performance still fall inside the machine's stated MPE.
Mechanical faults found during calibration, including scale damage, air bearing wear and probe seating issues, are quoted as repairs before any adjustment proceeds.

What Is Checked
Calibration follows ISO 10360 test procedures appropriate to the machine type, covering length measurement error and probing form error across the working volume.
- 01
Bridge and gantry CMMs
Length measurement error (E0, E150) checked across axes using calibrated gauge blocks or step gauges.
- 02
Cantilever CMMs
Volumetric and probing checks adjusted for the single-support geometry and its error characteristics.
- 03
Portable articulated arms
Single-point articulation and volumetric tests performed with reference artifacts sized to the arm's reach.
- 04
Mechanical and controller repair
Scale, bearing, probe and controller faults diagnosed and quoted separately from the calibration check.
How Requests Are Handled
- 01
Scope review
Make, model and range are checked against the performing laboratory's accredited scope.
- 02
Quotation issued
Calibration and any repair identified in advance from reported symptoms are covered in one written quotation.
- 03
Calibration performed
Testing follows ISO/IEC 17025:2017 with results recorded as-found before any adjustment.
- 04
Certificate released
Reference standards and reported uncertainty are stated on the released certificate.

Why Memphis CMM Calibration and Repair
- 01
As-found reporting
Out-of-tolerance conditions are documented before adjustment, preserving the record for root-cause review.
- 02
Repair quoted separately
Mechanical repairs identified during calibration are quoted on their own, not bundled automatically.
- 03
On-site capability
Fixed bridge and gantry machines are calibrated at the installed location, avoiding disassembly for shipment.
